MER has extensive experience in Coastal Habitats

MER was founded in 1999 and has since established itself as leader in long-term biomonitoring and research in the coastal zone (terrestrial and aquatic habitats) along the east African seaboard. Our expertise allows us to specialise in coastal ecological assessments, water related studies including wastewater discharge and management, and ecological risk management. In addition to our extensive experience both academic and practical, we also employ state of the art equipment and methods to provide our clients with the best advice and design solutions.

In addition the company provides short and medium term assessments of pressures and drivers impacting directly or indirectly on the status of rivers, wetlands, estuaries, coastal lakes and the inshore marine environment.

MER has a wide client base ranging from National Government Departments, large corporates to individual landowners. We are a niche company with a group of highly qualified specialists and a well-connected network, which allows us to draw on a wide range of specialists to assemble large multi-disciplinary teams for specific projects. As a small business one of our key strengths is that senior staff and management remain fully 'hands-on' and engaged in project delivery with both staff and clients.
